Better Late Than Never

Hi everyone!

We're back with a new year here at Amity High School!

First, a reminder of why we are here. We are here to help with writing in ANY SUBJECT AREA. This means your science labs, your history research, your English essays, College Application Essays, creative writing, any writing at all.

Because we use student tutors, you can get feedback from people familiar with a variety of the subjects offered here at Amity and what the requirements are for that particular type of writing.

Tutors are now working and available in the Writing Center, though the schedule is a bit crazy!

Period 1: Only on B days, Abby

Period 2: No students on duty until semester 2

Period 3: Daisy (A/B days)

Period 4: Neha, Abby, and Sophia (But only A and D days!)

Period 5: Katie (But only on A days!)

Period 6: Sydney on A days and Kate/Maddie on D days

Period 7: Mary (all days!)

Period 8: No students on duty

NOW REMEMBER: IF THERE IS NOT A STUDENT TUTOR AVAILABLE, YOU CAN STILL MEET WITH THE TEACHER ON DUTY! THEY CAN ALSO BE VERY HELPFUL!

Second Semester Scheduling Updates!

Hello everyone! 

We hope your second semester has had a great start! Below you will find the schedules for the Amity Writing Center for this semester. Please remember that if there isn't a student tutor available, that you can always meet with the teacher on duty. 

Also, you will be seeing QR codes on our new flyers. You can use these to go straight to the Session Request to sign up for a tutoring session!

As always, come in to the writing center for help on any type of writing, in any stage of the process. Science, history, English, etc, all are welcome. Just got an assignment and need help planning? Come on in. Want to review an assignment that was already graded to get ideas on how to prepare next time? Come on in! Need help deciding what else to write about on a given assignment? You get the idea...come in!

We hope that you remember to come to the Writing Center for any of your writing needs, for a place to study, for a place to spend your study hall in a relaxed and open environment. Revised Peer Tutor Schedule for May

Due to AP Testing the weeks of 5/1 and 5/8, the schedule had to be altered and study halls may not have tutors available.

At the start of Senior Internship, Periods 3 and 7 will not be covered and you will need to meet with the teacher on duty instead.

The Amity Writing Center is run by students for students, and we are here to help you. If you need help understanding assignments, brainstorming, organizing, or reviewing pieces of writing, the writing center is an excellent resource.

Autumn is here and the marking period has sped by. The Writing Center is open for students to come and receive writing assistance!

At this time we have tutors available during periods 2 and 7 (on C-D days). This will hopefully increase as the year goes on. Please remember to check the tutor availability in the Calendar/Availability link on the right side of the page.

To get quick feedback on part rather than all of your essay, click on the Amity Writing Center Help Desk link on the right side of the page.

Come to the Writing Center to meet with one of our highly trained student tutors. The Writing Center is open to all grades, and our tutors are here to help you with writing in any and all subjects.

Click on the Session Request Form or talk to us in person in Room 103 to schedule an appointment with a tutor (we also accept walk-ins). Welcome to the Writing Center!

Hello and welcome to Amity's Writing Center! After months (even years!) of preparation, the Writing Center is now open, and trained writing tutors are ready to help you with any and all your writing needs! What does this mean for Amity? Before, if you wanted a peer tutor to help you with writing, you would have to go through the process of filling out tutor requests and working out a schedule after being matched with a tutor. However, now, all you have to do is schedule an appointment on this website or in person at the Writing Center to meet with a specially-trained writing tutor, and we even accept walk-ins if tutors are available. In addition, our writing tutors are trained to help you with writing in any discipline, so you do not have to sign up for help in a certain subject. The Writing Center is open, easily-accessible, and ready to help you! 

The Writing Center is different from any other place at Amity--it is a student-run space where you can meet with a tutor or write in a focused environment. Check out the rest of our website and drop by room 103 to see for yourself why Amity is so excited to open the Writing Center! We hope you'll love it as much as we do!
